PortalBridge

Portal Bridge is a decentralized platform that allows for the transfer of assets between different blockchain networks. It is an open-source software interface to Wormhole, which is a cross-chain protocol. The bridge works by sending messages from one blockchain to another through a guardian network. Wormhole has a core bridge contract on each supported blockchain. When a user decides to make a transfer, a message is sent to the guardian network, while the assets are locked on the origin blockchain. Afterwards, the guardians must verify the transfer, in particular that the assets have been locked. Then, the assets on the target blockchain can be minted and given to the user.

The security of the bridge is provided through the use of a trustless and decentralized mechanism for the transfers, which ensures that the assets remain secure throughout the process. The platform utilizes a combination of smart contracts and security protocols, such as multisig wallets and secure oracles, to ensure the safety of assets being transferred. Another security feature is called Portal Guardians, which is a group of trusted entities that are responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of the network by monitoring and reporting any suspicious activity. These guardians are incentivized to act in the best interests of the network and are regularly audited to ensure their reliability.  Wormhole has been audited by several different companies including Kudelski, Hacken or Neodyme. It also has a Bug Bounty program with rewards up to 10 million USD. Despite this, in 2022 the project was a target of a successful hack which exploited a vulnerability, resulting in a theft of more than 320 million USD.
